Bedrijf discrimineert rokers

Vandaag bereikte ons een e-mail van een Engelstalige bewoner van Nederland die ons vroeg of het in ons land toegestaan is om in personeelsadvertenties rokers te discrimineren. Ze verwees ons naar een vacature van een Amersfoorts bedrijf.


Navraag leert ons dat dit in Nederland absoluut niet mag. Acties tegen dit bedrijf zijn dus terecht.

Een eerste onderzoek leidt naar het bedrijf Extron (www.extron.com), een Californisch bedrijf (natuurlijk!) waarvan het Europese hoofdkantoor in Amersfoort staat.


Actie: Dien zoveel mogelijk klachten in tegen het bedrijf op www.meldpunt.nl.


Het bureau dat de advertentie heeft geplaatst heeft inmiddels ook gereageerd:







We appreciate your comments about this advertisement where the requirement states “a non smoker”.


This particular company have a non smoking policy as do many companies in the Netherlands.


Employers are no longer obliged to provide a “smokers area” so they are legally allowed to state this requirement.


More and more companies in Holland are requesting non-smokers.


We hope you understand that a recruitment agency searches on the basis of the criteria of an employer.
