Meer Ierse rokers

Sinds twee jaar geleden het Ierse rookverbod inging is het aantal rokers… gestegen!


Het percentage rokers steeg in die tijd van 22% naar 23%.


Dat blijkt uit een officieel rapport dat door het overheidsbureau Office of Tobacco Control is uitgebracht.


Het verminderen van het percentage rokers is de hoofdreden om rookverboden in te voeren.


Ireland’s Office of Tobacco Control annual review showed smoking rates are up from 22 per cent in March 2004 to just over 23 per cent in December last year.


The figures, based on a survey of 1,000 people, also show that 18 per cent of 15- to 18-year-olds are smokers.


The Irish legislation has been blamed for the closure of about 200 pubs.
