Minister van Gezondheid vertrekt

Bij de regeringswisseling van Berlusconi is de minister van Gezondheid, Sirchia, uit het kabinet verdwenen en vervangen door een echte politicus, Francesco Storace. Sirchia, die nogal in opspraak was de laatste tijd vanwege twijfelachtige connecties met de medische industrie, voerde vorig jaar een rigide rookwet in in Italië.


Goed nieuws voor de rokers in Italië, die nu hopenlijk uit kunnen zien naar een versoepeling van de tabakswetgeving.


Francesco Storace has become minister of health, replacing the ‘specialist’ Girolamo Sirchia. So, having been voted out of regional politics in the recent regional elections, he’s been promoted up to the national scale. Storace was born in Cassino on January 25, 1959. He’s married and has a daughter. An MP in the XII and XIII parliaments, during which he headed the parliamentary Commission for observing radio and television services. On April 16, 2000 he was elected president of the Lazio Region. As governor there, one of the main areas of his administration was health.
